About CIS...


The Computer Information Systems (CIS) class overs fundamentals of computer system applications and how knowledge and skills in this area are a valuable resource for business-related careers. CIS Explores hardware components and focuses on the Microsoft Office software systems, particularly: 2016/365's Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access).

This course fills a curriculum requirement for both a Virginia standard and advanced high school diploma. The CIS instruction prepares students to pass any of four, Level I, Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certificate Exams. These certificate distinctions are an asset for both college students and young professionals as they pursue their next levels. Students are strongly encouraged to join Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) for enrichment and experience that supports the CIS class.
